DLNR Issues Reminder To ATV
(All Terrain Vehicles) And Dirt Bike Users

HILO — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE) is reminding the general public of state rules on the use of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and dirt bikes:

The use of ATVs and dirt bikes within all state parks, forest reserves, small boat harbors and unencumbered state lands is prohibited without a valid permit from DLNR.

“DLNR’s priority is to protect and preserve natural and cultural resources on state land, in the parks, forest reserves, and other state lands,” said Peter Young, DLNR chairperson.

ATVs and dirt bikes can be operated legally within a DLNR-designated ATV riding area with a permit, or a public hunting area with a valid hunting license when hunting. Call the Division of Forestry and Wildlife on your island for more information.
